A staff of some 2,300 employees works "backstage" at the Louvre to organize the reception of visitors and ensure the protection of some 35,000 artworks. Stéphane Krausz's film explores the labyrinth of the Louvre's underground galleries and corridors in the company of some of these "workers in the wings"—curators, attendants, electricians, painters, firemen, etc—who tell us of their pride and affection for this unusual workplace steeped in history. The documentary explores the rules and rituals that govern the Louvre's daytime and nighttime existence, and shows the hidden face of the famous museum.
