The 60 meter-long and 12 meter-high Apollo Gallery at the heart of the Musée du Louvre is remarkably decorated in French baroque style. Painting, sculpture, gilding, and tapestry combine to celebrate the Sun god Apollo. Made during its restoration, Jérôme Prieur's film Awakening Apollo (85 minutes) recounts the artistic and political history of the gallery.
Bonus: Behind the scenes of a restoration at the Louvre (80 minutes)
Sébastien Jousse invites viewers to explore the Apollo Gallery, then returns in detail to the various stages of its restoration with a presentation of the techniques, skills, and professions involved.
