This film is an audiovisual attempt to create a "virtual" visit with writer Michel Butor. A number of clues are laid for the viewer: a book (The Modification); a group (the Nouveau Roman); a trip to America; a border… The "serial" structure of the film prompts free associations, leads viewers on a number of entertaining paths, and suggests a world based on fragmentation, repetition, and modification.
