In this film, writer and essayist Jean Starobinski talks about himself, his work, his life. With a certain humility, he claims that he is not a true author as his works concern other writers—Enlightenment authors such as Rousseau, Diderot, and Montesquieu. Shot in Jean Starobinski's library, the film captures his love of the written word in a few images, as the writer's hand gently slides from one book to another...
