This film follows writer and psychoanalyst Julia Kristeva's preparatory work for the exhibition "Capital Visions" (Musée du Louvre, 1998). She chooses to interpret violence through the symbolic figure of decapitation in a range of artworks from various periods and civilizations. The film dissociates her words and her face, so that we hear her voice without seeing her face—the filmmaker's way of connecting image and discourse.
