The Venus de Milo or the Invention of a Myth

Sculptures series

The "Sculptures" series is designed to inform our perception of seminal works of art from different periods. In each episode, a sculpture from the museum is situated in its historical context and observed from all sides in its three-dimensionality.

Director(s): Martin Fraudreau

When the Venus de Milo was discovered in 1820, it was instantly hailed as a model of feminine beauty. The film tells the story of the statue and its popularity with an exploration of the fantasies of its greatest admirers.
