The Artist's Studio: An Art Laboratory

Lines, Shapes, Colors series

The documentary series "Lines, Shapes, Colors" covers several centuries of the history of painting and drawing with a study of the development of techniques. The result is a mini encyclopedia of pictorial techniques which takes a scientific yet sensitive approach to art history.

Director(s): Marie-José Jaubert, Alain Jaubert

The film takes viewers into artists' studios—from the art classroom at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts to the individual painter's studio—and shows them to be places of creativity and liberty, instruction and transmission.
